Low Carb Diet – Create Your Own Weight Loss Plan

Low carb diets are popular for one simple reason: they work. Want to get a taste of what this diet feels like? You can create your own weight loss plan, to see whether you enjoy eating this way, and whether you lose weight.

Big tip: you must drink lots of water on any low carb diet, so carry a water bottle with you.

1. Build Every Meal Around Protein

As the name suggests low carb diets are all about lowering your carbohydrates. This means that you build every meal around protein. You will have protein in some form for breakfast lunch and dinner, and for your snacks as well.

If you're thinking that protein means meat, you're right.

But there are many other forms of protein aside from meat. Consider poultry, fish, and beans. There also many dairy products you can choose from. Consider yogurt, cream, and cheese.

This selection of foods should keep you happy and give you lots of choices for your meal plans.

2. Leafy Green Vegetables Are Good for You: Eat Them at Least Twice a Day

One thing you shouldn't skimp on your low carb diet is vegetables, specifically green leafy vegetables. They're very good for you, and will give you needed vitamins and minerals. Of course you can eat other vegetables too, but be aware that potatoes contain significant amounts of carbohydrate.

In the early stages of your low carb diet be wary of fruit too. Although fruit is good for you (you should have at least a couple of pieces of fruit a day), over-eating fruit can mean that your low carb diet isn't as effective as it could be.

For the first couple of weeks of your low carb diet restrict yourself to two pieces of fruit a day.

3. Eat Fruit and Cream for Dessert

People who are new to low carb diets always wonder what they can have for dessert. A low carb diet seems very strict, you're not allowed to eat sweets, cookies or cakes, so what's left for dessert?

What about peaches and cream? Or a baked apple with cream? You can dress up any fruit with cream and have it for dessert. You can also choose to have a tub of yogurt.

When you first start your low carb journey it can seem that the diet is very restrictive. You will crave carbs.

However persist, and you will get your reward. Low carb diets help you to lose weight more quickly than other diets. If you have 20 to 50 pounds to lose, try a low carb diet -- you will be pleased at the results.
